Headpiece and Veil trends

History states that the lifting of the veil was often a part of ancient wedding ritual, symbolizing the groom taking possession of the wife, or the revelation of the bride by her parents to the groom for his approval. In the 19th century, wedding veils came to symbolize the woman’s virginity and modesty. The tradition of a veil over the bride’s face continues still wherein, a bride enters the marriage ritual with a veiled face and remains fully veiled until the ceremony concludes. After the full conclusion of the wedding ceremony, either the bride’s father lifts the veil giving the bride to the groom who then kisses her, or the new groom lifts her face veil.

Here at Emporella we think that wearing a veil on your wedding day is a MUST! Not only is it a tradition but veils look stunning on and help to complete the look. Also when else will you have the pleasure to wear one. Like everything else, veils come in all different shapes and sizes, let’s go through each style before we see the trends for 2017!

Now onto head wear, I know we said veils are a must but in reality, a veil is no longer a requirement for the modern bride. So if you don’t fancy a veil how about something else. Headpieces are super fashionable for the modern bride with lots of different styles we are not surprised. Take a look at some of our favourites.

Flowers- The flower crown is our 2017 winner! Perfect for a wedding in any season, not just summer, however floral crowns are not for everyone they are seen for to have a more boho, relaxed look. They also look amazing with a veil if you can’t decide between a headpiece or veil, you can most definitely wear both. Also if you think a flower crown is too much a floral headpiece that slots in at the back are just as stunning.

Lace- If lace is more your style, elegant and simple then little lace combs are perfect. They are also, in our opinion, more bridal than the flowers and sparkles.

Jewels- Add extra bling and sparkle with these jewelled combs go large or subtle to complete your style.

Tiara- Be a princess for the day by wearing a tiara. A wedding is a perfect excuse to wear one!

Brow band- Low sitting headbands are becoming more and more popular for bridal accessories

With all these different options available it may be overwhelming, a good solution to this dilemma would be to get a veil or headpiece made, exactly how you want it. That also means it will be one of a kind and unique just like you and your wedding. We hope this blog helps on your hunt for the perfect veil.
